About Us

Steam Powered Stories CIC, in cooperation with Learn and Grow Ltd, administer the Welsh Government funded numeracy project-

What you say COUNTS!

What you say COUNTS! is a project that was launched by Huw Lewis, Minister for Education and Skills in September 2013. With the aim of obliterating the belief that maths is an equation that cannot be equalised, the project strives to raise awareness of numeracy by encouraging adults to stop saying "I can't do maths" in front of young people.

'What you say COUNTS!' as a scheme is determined to inspire, create, and maintain a strong and successful future workforce by working with young people now to encourage them to believe they can be good at maths.

To achieve these aims, Steam Powered Stories and Learn and Grow are using existing and newly brokered links between employers and schools to promote numeracy in schools. The links created enable secondary pupils to ask any questions they may have and get their questions answered.

As well as administering workshops with employers and businesses, Steam Powered Stories also offers an array of projects and workshops that can be catered to your schools needs. Whether you are requiring a service that can raise numeracy standards across your school, or you are looking for a workshop that focuses on teaching your students on finance and money management, Steam Powered Stories can provide the service you need.

We have worked with various schools in Swansea, Neath, and Powys, and are in the process of working with more secondary schools in the next academic year.

If you would like Steam Powered Stories and Learn and Grow to administer a project in your school, head over to our 'What do we offer' page now and book a project with us!
